ShiftGrit Monthly | May 2024

We’re writing this newsletter in hopes of reaching the entire Shiftgrit team to recognize their achievements and hard work. In the month of April, our team positively impacted 654 individual lives through promoting mental, emotional, and relational wellness via therapy.

Additionally, a lot of collaboration goes on behind the scenes to make all of this possible, and we’d like to spotlight those whose efforts aren’t always seen but are felt; whether it be a clinician organizing a training session or contributing via the Hive, a CES member going above and beyond to ensure client comfort, or Kent employing innovative techniques to attract new clientele, these contributions are impactful. This space is dedicated to highlighting all these efforts!

Beyond recognizing your achievements, we aim to enhance our team communication and provide a platform for sharing essential information in an accessible, engaging, and fun format.

Please mark your calendars! We are planning some fun team-building activities in both YEG and YYC in the coming months:

New Core Values

We are excited to share with you our new core values. These values are more than words; they capture the principles we seek to define the Shift way. They are designed to foster a healthy, engaging, and efficient workplace, pushing us forward to new horizons.

Why new values?

Our new core values better emphasize the principles upon which Shift was built. They interweave, with each supporting and enhancing the other, embodying the spirit of collaboration and progress that we strive for each day.

Inspired by the Hive:

One of the central themes of our new core values is the “Hive Mentality.” This concept is influenced by the beehive, a super-organism where every member works in harmony, without rank, focusing on the collective rather than the individual. At Shift, we embrace this mentality, recognizing that our strength lies in our unity and collaborative spirit.

  • Hive Mentality: Our best days are when we work in unity. Whether it is clinicians using the Hive chat for collaboration and support, or our CES team enhancing client understanding through sharing knowledge, recognizing each members strengths allows us to grow and succeed together.
  • Truth Over Comfort: We seek to have open and honest communications in all aspects of our work. Addressing issues directly, before they escalate, fosters a transparent and trusting environment.
  • Celebrate the Wins:We aim to share and celebrate our successes, whether grand or small. This not only recognizes the challenges we overcome, it also maintains a positive environment that motivates us to continue to strive for greatness.
  • Build People Up: Be a helper, contributor, inspirer, and problem solver. By empowering and trusting each other, we empower ourselves and enhance our collective abilities.
  • Be Disciplined: This value spotlights the importance of accountability and consistency in all areas of each of our practices.
  • Know the Why, Communicate the Why, Seek the Why:Understanding the ‘why’ behind what we do is crucial and applies to all facets of Shift. It drives our curiosity and commitment to knowledge, ensuring that each step we take is informed, intentional, and guided. This paves the way for continuous improvement, innovation, and breakthrough.

We believe these core values will help guide and bind us as a community committed to serving our clientele in an open, accessible, and engaging manner.

A Not so ‘Professional’ Resource of the Month

Team Spotlight

We’re thrilled to share an update from Baldwin, one of our Calgary clinicians, and Kent, who helped out from the marketing side. Baldwin was contacted by some third-party groups looking to connect him with individuals interested in Sports Psychology. He chatted with Kent about this, letting him know that he was passionate and interested in working with a sports-focused clientele.

Together, they came up with a marketing strategy highlighting Baldwin’s passion for wrestling and his experience as both a competitor and coach.

We put together a new Calgary Sports Psychology Services page and a Google Ads landing page that can be accessed through our Google Ads Campaign.
